Come to a WinACC open meeting

10.30-12.00 (10.00 for refreshments and socialising) on the first Saturday of every month in 2010, at the Friends Meeting House, 16 Colebrook Street Winchester on 6 February and after that at St Lawrence Parish Rooms, also in Colebrook St. Find out what's going on, join in the debates and plan future activities.

Take action in a WinACC Action Group

WinACC Action Groups cover themes such as the Built Environment, Schools, Transport and Communications.  The focus is always on action. Each group meets about once a month and members are active in between meetings.

Action Groups are often on the lookout for new recruits.  Our Science and Technology Advisory Panel is looking for a sociologist with relevant experience of social change, and a green economist.  WinACC is also keen to hear from anyone interested in forming a new Action Group.

Become a low carbon champion

WinACC trains and supports "low carbon champions" in the community and in workplaces.  Low carbon champions  raise awareness about climate change and motivate people to reduce their carbon footprint at home and at work.

We are planning training for people interested in becoming a low carbon champion in the health service, local authorities, parish councils, voluntary and community groups and for people who are active in their local neighbourhood. To find a course for you, ring Chris Holloway on 01962 827083 or email winacc@winacc.org.uk

Join a neighbourhood group

The Greening Campaign  aims to motivate people to reduce their impact on the environment. It is a separate organisation, but local Greening Campaigns work closely with WinACC.  There are Greening Campaigns in  Alresford, Colden Common, Fulflood and Oliver’s Battery and a local neighbourhood group in Bishops Waltham. We are hoping to start new local groups across Winchester district in 2010. For further information on Greening Campaigns see: www.greening-campaign.co.uk.

Volunteer your time in the WinACC office

Do you have a few hours to spare during the week?  If so, we’d welcome your help in the WinACC office.  Duties are varied but might include research, organising and participating in meetings, administration, updating the WinACC website etc.

Organise an event

WinACC is always on the lookout for volunteers who are willing to help organise events on the challenges of human-caused climate change and the benefits of low carbon living.  Whether you’re a fully-fledged event manager or just someone who likes to organise, get in touch.

Take minutes

WinACC needs people to take minutes at its Communications Group and Membership Group.  The meetings take place every four to six weeks and last for  90 minutes. The volunteer would of course be welcome to take part in the discussions!
