Based on the household size, this carbon footprint equates to 1.35 tonnes per person

Measures taken in the last 12 months to reduce footprint
Using local food sources whenever possible - Riverford/Abel & Cole for veg and meat/fish, Suma Wholefoods for bulk orders of store cupboard items. Growing our own organic veg in window boxes. Composting. Holidaying within the UK.

Measures to be taken in the next 12 months to reduce footprint
Switch from Ecotricity to Good Energy as the latter invest in 100% renewable energy (their site claims this could reduce our household emissions by 600kg per annum). Renovate old bike to use more frequently for local trips. Better planning for any supermarket trips so reducing number of car trips. Fitting a 'chimney balloon' to stop heat being lost up chimney.

Any other comments
We live in a rented property and the landlord is totally unwilling (eg. won't even allow a water meter to be fitted!) to allow/make any changes to the current condition of the property - which is not double-glazed, needs a new boiler and could definitely do with better insulation! Feel this would be a common problem for other tenants and would welcome suggestions on how we can take action.

Based on the household size, this carbon footprint equates to 3.60 tonnes per person

Have had the tiled bay window taken back to the inner wall and rebuilt using modern techniques and insulation. Have added 3 energy saving light bulbs. Now use a machine that measures current use of electricity and it has been revealing as to how much energy certain appliances and lights use.

We have 20 of the halogen light bulbs in various rooms and also 3 neon tube lights which use a lot of electricity - working on alternatives. Already have solar panels for the hot water and we are now looking at ways to make electricity. We are planning to replace the front door which currently is 50+ years old and although it is draft proofed we think it's days are numbered.
