Really Big Dutch Windmills

I have just spent 5 days in the Netherlands. I drove past these 4 enormous things (looked like 150 to 200m high to the tip of the blades) 4 times. Mostly it was raining and on one day we were part of the largest sum of traffic jams ever. 500 plus km! The Netherlands has 15 million people in a country the size of Devon and Somerset most of whom live and work in Devon aka Randstaad! They are on the motoroway between Gouda and Den Haag. I have a real nimby view about them. What about you?

Fit for the future - the green homes retrofit manual

A useful guide being promoted at Futurebuild this week.  Aimed at social housing landlords but a great source of information to anyone considering which energy saving measures and renewable energy technologies could be suitable for their property.

Each section lists details of each measure/system according to the age/construction of different house types and lists advantages/disadvantages, costs and key issues.  Case studies are also included.

All sections can be downloaded from the following page at the Housing Corporation website (scroll down for pdfs of each section) :-
