WinACC chairman speech to Winchester Council Environment Scrutiny Panel
The chairman of Winchester Action on Climate Change (WinACC), Robert Hutchison, called on Winchester City Council’s Environment Scrutiny Panel on 2 February 2010 to “nudge” the Cabinet to act decisively to cut greenhouse gas emissions from domestic energy and transport.
WDSP
The Winchester District Strategic Partnership (WDSP) is a partnership of the major agencies in Winchester District - public, private and voluntary - who are working together to improve the quality of life for those who live, work and visit the area. This is also known as a Local Strategic Partnership (LSP). One of its key roles is to create and deliver a Community Strategy that identifies the priority issues facing Winchester District and what the partnership can do to address them.
The WDSP consists of a Board made up of sixteen partners who represent different sectors. These Board members are supported by underpinning themed partnerships, networks and forums.

20:12 Winchester's 20% Carbon Challenge
The Board of the Winchester District Strategic Partnership (WDSP) has committed the WDSP to achieving a 20 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in the district over the three years to March 2012.
Low Carbon Procurement (buying)
On 9 October, the Winchester District Strategic Partnership (WDSP) organised a seminar for public and private sector organisations to learn more about how to take carbon emissions into account in their procurement - in other words, in deciding what to buy. The presentations from the workshop are on the WDSP website at http://www.wdsp.co.uk/board/strategic_outcome_groups/high_quality_environment/carbon_sensitive_procurement_seminar/
Climate Change Framework and Action Plan
On 27 February 2009, the Board of the Winchester District Strategic Partnership (WDSP) approved the Climate Change Framework prepared by the Board’s High Quality Environment Group. The Board agreed that it was important to achieve wide ownership of the targets, ‘priority areas for action’, and other proposals in the Framework. The Action Plan to achieve the agreed WDSP target of a 20% reduction in carbon emissions by 2012 is now being drawn up. Comments should be sent to Robert Hutchison, WinACC’s Chairman, drd.hutchison@btinternet.com who chairs the WDSP High Quality Environment Group.
