Code for Sustainable Homes - three films

The Department of Communities and Local Government has produced three short films about building to meet the Code for Sustainable Homes - link and transcript at   http://www.communities.gov.uk/planningandbuilding/buildingregulations/legislation/codesustainable/codesustainable/

The first one was produced at the time of the launch of the Code. It explains what the Code is, what the benefits are, and how it contributes to other policies, in particular the timeline for zero carbon development. The film features interviews with Paul King, former Campaigns Director for WWF, now Chief Executive of the UK Green Building Council. The second short film (1 year on) features the first Code homes in the country, which were built on the Illingworth Estate in Halifax by Bramall Construction on behalf of Pennine Housing 2000. This film, in the form of a report features those homes and highlights some of the sustainability features that you can expect to see in homes built to Code standards. These homes reached Code level 4. The third short film (2 years on) features an interview with Ian Austin, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Communities and Local Government. The film, shows examples of a number of social housing homes that have been built to Code standards. You can access the films via this link, and also get transcripts in MS Word
