Greening Colden Common Love Your Environment Day
Greening Colden Common is the latest local campaign to undertake its formal public launch on 14th February at Colden Common School 2:00pm. 'Love Your Environment Day' promises to be a successful event with speakers, stands and films providing useful advice and tips about how to save energy and reduce carbon footprint. The pupils of Colden Common Primary school will be presenting the work they have been doing during their own Eco week in the week preceding the launch.
Rob Veck, one of the organisers of the campaign: 'This is intended to be a fun and informative event that should help persuade people to realise that when faced with seemingly insurmountable problems like climate change and fossil fuel depletion, even small individual actions like turning off the lights can make a big difference, if enough people do them. The Greening Campaign is all about giving people that confidence.'
The group has already received help and support from many groups and organisations within the village including the Parish Council and hope that the event will inspire more people to take up the challenge and join the campaign. The villages’ efforts to reduce CO2 will be measured by counting the number of energy saving pledge cards displayed in the front windows of houses.
The group’s aim is to build on this early momentum to make more substantive sustainable improvements for the community into the future. Anyone in Colden Common wishing to join the Campaign team please contact Rob Veck on 07980 167774 or info@GreenHomeDiary.com. Further information can be found at www.greening-campaign.co.uk.
