Saturday, 5 June 2010 - 11:30am to 1:00pm

WinACC's monthly Saturday morning open meeting with guest speaker Dr Gillian Alker. Gillian, formerly Forestry Commission's Wood Fuel Officer for the South East, will be explaining why using woodfuel is beneficial to both the environment, the local economy and woodland wildlife.

Woodfuel can be burned to generate heat or electricity and is an important part of the UK’s renewable energy supply.  It is a sustainable, low carbon, source of energy that is produced from managed woods, where felled trees are replanted. Gill Alker will present the benefits of using wood fuel, introduce some local case studies and go through the economics and financial incentives available to develop woodfuel projects in public buildings, communities and small businesses.

WinACC open meetings take place on the first Saturday of each month. They usually have a topic for discussion, and an update about recent activities and future plans. An opportunity for newcomers and memers to get involved.
