The 6-monthly Hampshire Climate Action Network meeting is open to everyone who is active in the community on climate change.  Free - for people who are actively working against climate change in their communities in Hampshire to meet and share experiences. 
The purpose is to share news, learn from successes and failures, and review if we should work together across all or part of the county of Hampshire (including unitaries).
We will as usual finalise the agenda on the day.It is informal workshop-style, no speakers, and a bring-and-share lunch afterwards to network.


9.30 for coffee and introductions; business 10-12.30, then bring and share lunch. The Southampton Transition Repair Cafe is at Cobbett Road library about 10-15min walk from the Old Chemist and closes at 12.30. This who want to see it can leave at 12.

1) Round table introductions to our groups and our current main activities

2) Local and national action in the run-up to Paris. 

  • What are we all doing? 
  • Who is going to be in Paris - can can we share blogs?
  • Can we get more publicity from liaising?

3) Getting climate change into devolution Hampshire, Southampton and other neighbouring authorities have put in a bid to have more powers devolved from national Government to a combined authority covering all of Hampshire (see the announcement on HCC website ). We must make sure that climate change is reflected in its work.

4) Pensions and divestment from fossil fuel 

5) Havant FoE wrote: "If we come we may like to talk about geothermal energy in Southampton-possibly beyond"

6) Winchester offer a brief talk on electricity consumption in Hampshire (domestic v. commercial) based on DECC data

7) Climate Action England -  a new network for groups like us

16 Manor Farm Road is 15 minutes’ walk from St Denys Station, or 10 minutes if you walk to Belmont Road to catch the 7 bus that runs every 10 minutes on Sat 7 November 

Trains arrive at St Denys from the north at 09:30 and then hourly. Trains come direct from Romsey (dep 09:07 hourly) and Eastleigh dep (09:21 hourly) (and connect with trains from Winchester (dep 09:05 hourly) and Basingstoke (08:49 hourly) at Southampton Airport. Return trains depart north at 13:40, 14:40, 15:40, 16:40 17:44. 

Trains arrive at St Denys from the west at 08:40, 09:40 and then hourly direct from e.g. Salisbury (07:50, 08:56, 09:56 etc), Romsey (08:13, 09:20, 10:20 etc), and Southampton Central (09:35 etc). Trains also arrive at 08:49, 09:49 and then hourly from Southampton Central (08:44 etc.).They return at XX:30. 

Trains arrive at St Denys from the east at XX:34 leaving e.g. Fareham at XX:06 and Portsmouth and Southsea at XX:42 in the previous hour. Trains return at XX:49. 

Or if you start in Southampton City Centre, bus 7 takes about 15 minutes from Vincent’s Walk or Upper Bar .
