Warm-Up Winnall - new boilers free or reduced cost

Winnall residents can get a replacement boiler free or at reduced price under Warm-Up Winnall.  Some people will get their new boiler entirely paid for under the Government ECO scheme. Others will get it at a reduced price regardless of their circumstances.

To register your interest with no commitment, or to find out more, ring 0800 952 0037 and quote “Warm-Up Winnall”, or ask at the community centre in Garbett Road, Winnall Winchester, SO23 0NY.

If they aren’t in a position to pay the cost upfront, they could choose a Green Deal loan. This means that the loan is repaid from the savings on their gas and electricity bills.

“It’s a great scheme, using Government funding to save energy, save money and help people stay warm”, said Janet Berry of Winnall Community Centre.

The project is targeted at people who own their own homes. “Many people used the Right-to-Buy to buy their home from the Council years ago. Now they are pensioners and their boilers are worn-out and inefficient. This is a way we can help them cover the cost”, said Councillor Brian Collin, who gave a grant to kick-start community environmental projects in Winnall.

The works will be organised by YES projects, which ran the recent successful Insulate Hampshire Scheme.

The project is funded by Winchester City Council using a grant from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, and co-ordinated by Winchester Action on Climate Change. I
