Hampshire County Council has been awarded £144,000 towards the development of the business case for a district energy network in Winchester. The money will support feasibility work and the viability of schemes that would serve some of the larger energy consumers in the city including the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester University, HM Prison Winchester and Hampshire County Council.
26 councils have been awarded funding to support the development of heat network projects, also known as district heating, to provide more efficient heat to buildings and potentially lower heating bills
