birds on a cliffProfessor Tim Birkhead of the Department of Animal and Plant Sciences at University of Sheffield has been studying the declining population of the guillemot seabirds on Skomer Island since 1972. The study of these seabirds has provided insightful information into the effects of climate change and oil pollution on the ecosystem as well as the state of marine environment.

For the past 41 years this research has been funded by the Countryside Council for Wales. Since however becoming part of Natural Resource Wales in 2013, funding for this project ceased and the important work drew to a halt.

Donations are being collected to help surge the project forward once again.
