stop ttipThe EU intends to sign two far-reaching trade agreements: one with Canada (CETA = Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) and one with the USA (TTIP = Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership).

Many organisations are worried that these will make it even harder for our government to act on climate change. Under TTIP and CETA, Canadian and US companies would have the right to sue for damages if they believe that they have suffered losses because of government decisions (for instance new laws to combate the causes of climate change).

Local supporters of Global Justice Now are supporting their petition to MPs and MEPs about TTIP in Winchester High St on Saturday 18 April. The contact is  angela-sealey@ntlworld.com

See this description of what TTIP is and why it’s such a threat by Prof John Hilary,  Exec Director of War on Want.
