Following the Prime Minister's question time admission in March that the health effects of air pollution cost the country billions, Friends of the Earth are asking the public to sign their petition to give everyone clean air to breathe.

In February the Royal College of Physicians published a report setting out the impact air pollution is having on our nation’s health. According to the College, around 40,000 deaths each year in the UK are caused by outdoor air pollution which is linked to cancer, asthma, stroke and heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and changes linked to dementia. The health problems resulting from air pollution cost more than £20 billion every year.

The petition is available on the Friends of the Earth website.
