Solafields & vogt solar will start the construction of the Bishop’s Waltham solar farm, on land west of the B2177 between Bishop's Waltham and Waltham Chase this month.

The construction of the 12MW farm will take up to 20 weeks, but the majority of work should be finished before Christmas. When operational the park will generate enough renewable electricity to power over 3,500 average households, saving around 5,160 tonnes of CO2 annually.

Community benefits will include a community benefit fund with individual grants of up to £10,000 to support local community projects. Email Cyra Parkes at if you would like an application form.

Solafields are continuing to work with the Hampshire Renewable Energy Co-operative to look at ways in which the local community can invest in the project after it becomes operational.
