Government pays you for renewable energy
Households and communities who install generating technologies such as small wind turbines and solar panels will from April be entitled to claim payments for the low carbon electricity they produce. Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband announced the feed-in tariff (FITs) levels on 1 February 2010.
The tariff, which is available from April 2010, will be administered by Ofgem and energy suppliers will be responsible for paying the reward to their customers.

HeatSeekers hit the roads in the Winchester District in December. Heatseekers uses an energy efficiency detecting vehicle to help homeowners pinpoint escaping heat in their homes, and identifies homes that may benefit from improved insulation. Winchester’s first big climate change demonstration
The first major climate change demonstration in Winchester took place on Saturday 5 December. 130 people including Professor Joy Carter vice-Chancellor of the University of Winchester, the Bishop of Winchester Rt Rev Michael Scott Joynt and three parliamentary candidates for the Winchester constituency Steve Brine, Patrick Davies and Martin Tod marched from Abbey Gardens to the beat of a drumming band up the High Street to the railway station.
