We're a fast-growing and effective network of local people, businesses and organisations working together to transform Winchester into a low carbon district. We have a positive vision for the future - low energy bills, healthy lifestyles, strong communities – with a target to reduce CO2 emissions by one-third by 2015. Together we will achieve this: become a WinACC member today to play your part.

First Government adverts on climate change

Recent research shows that people are unclear about what causes climate change. On 9 October, the Government launched its first ever public information announcement confirming the existence of climate change and its man-made origin.

The advert features a father telling his daughter a story of ‘a very very strange’ world with ‘horrible consequences’ for today’s children as part of the Act on CO2 campaign to encourage people to make a difference by changing their behaviour.

Low carbon conference for school and college students launches challenge

Walk, cycle, eat less meat and use less electricity each day are all activities that we are prepared to do to reduce our carbon footprints. This is the clear message that has come out of a low carbon conference held last Thursday 9th July at Peter Symonds College for the 14 – 19 age group in partnership with Winchester Action on Climate Change.

Over 200 students from Peter Symonds College, Kings School, The Westgate School and Swanmore College of Technology took part in a day of activities focusing on our carbon footprints and the urgent actions that are needed by all of us in order to avoid runaway climate change.
