WinACC’s Vision is a carbon neutral Winchester District which is a beacon for sustainable, low carbon living.
We are a charitable company, originally launched in 2007, and we are working to lower the carbon footprint of the Winchester District by inspiring sustainable living. We work together with local residents, businesses, organisations, scientists, educators and engineers, policy and decision makers to create a healthier and more fulfilling future for everyone.
Our immediate Aim is to help Winchester District do its share to achieve the targets that contribute to the aims of the Paris Agreement 2015 and keep global warming below 1.5 degrees centigrade by:
- Cutting the carbon footprint of Winchester District by 60% by 2030 (from 2004 baseline)
- Ensuring that at least 15% of the energy used in Winchester District comes from local renewable sources by the end of 2020
Our Values are underpinned by social and environmental justice for all and our concern for both present and future generations being able to meet their own needs.
WinACC was started by Robert Hutchison, who saw climate change as both ‘an emergency and an opportunity’ and we are seeking to create positive change to tackle climate change and create exciting new low carbon opportunities. We believe that meeting the challenges posed by climate change can lead to a better quality of life for all.
