Are you feeling overwhelmed and bewildered by the challenges of climate change and wondering whether there is anything you can do to make a difference? WinACC is here to help you.
We are a local environmental organisation that ‘thinks globally’ but ‘starts locally.’ We can support you in making a change on a local level, whether at home or at work, which can contribute to global change.
You can make a change to the energy you use, your methods of transport, what you eat, what you buy and throw away, and your relationship with your local habitat. Making a change to the way you do some or all of these things can be a lot easier than you might think. We are here to support you each step of the way.
Does it really matter what I choose to eat? The simple answer is yes. Energy is used directly to produce our food – for example tractors and trucks burn diesel which releases carbon dioxide, the main driver of climate change.
The energy used to heat and power accounts for a significant proportion of personal carbon emissions. It therefore makes sense to look at opportunities to reduce energy use, especially as many improvements can be achieved at little or no cost.
The theme of “habitat” encompasses both the built and natural environment because the development of our buildings and settlements clearly has an impact and is dependent on, the natural world.
We promote low carbon waste management in the Winchester District by encouraging waste reduction, reuse and recycling in order to reduce the district’s greenhouse gas emissions.
Join us in campaigning for a sustainable Winchester. There are lots of opportunities for you to reduce your own transport emissions and support positive change in Winchester.
When you fly, make a donation to WinACC using our ‘Love Miles Levy’ we will fund projects such as planting new trees around Winchester and build a fund for local renewable investments..
